This month's theme for Gardening Gone Wild's Picture This photo contest is "Genius loci," which means the spirit of the place. Judge Andrea Jones has asked for photos of a favorite place. There's no place I'd rather be in May than sitting on the swing in the woodland garden here at Squirrelhaven. The exuberance of the wild plants spilling into the paths delights my eyes, while the scent of the Phlox divaricata pleases my nose. The swing provides a shady respite from the myriad chores of the spring garden. Why would I want to be anywhere else?

I'd like to be there too! How lush and green and inviting it looks, especially viewed from February's wan greys and drizzle.
Your swing looks so inviting MrMcD.
Good luck with the challenge.
This photo says, "Come, sit and relax." Very peaceful.
It is a lovely shade garden! I wish I could get groundcovers established as well as yours.
Your swing looks very inviting and a place I would want to be on a hot day
That image certainly captures the spirit of your garden.
Good entry for the Picture This contest! Who wouldn't want to be there? I like your new header, too!
Really inviting, MMD. Of course this would be a wonderful place to be... and wouldn't it be nice if it looked like that Right Now?? :-)
Why would anyone want to be anywhere else? That is a great pic! A hosta sans snails is always amazing to me...
Not only is this inviting but it makes me long for spring ...
Oh, yes, this is the perfect place! No need to travel far when you have a little bit of paradise right here, MMD. The swing looks so inviting and the perfect spot to view your garden. Such a peaceful place.
I don't know how I missed the fact you were on crutches--hope you're on the mend, Barbara, and will be feeling better by the time gardening season begains.
I've been there! Beautiful when I saw it and beautiful in the picture!
