Carol at May Dreams Gardens, had the nifty idea of everyone showing off what they have in bloom in their garden on the 15th of every month, Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day. She's not a stickler for the rules, so indoor blooms (or anything floral) can be the subject of a post. Unlike last year, where I had to go purchase a plant to have some blooms, this year, inspired by Cindy of From My Corner of Katy, I have a Butterfly-type Amaryllis (I misplaced the tag). I prefer its smaller flowers and more graceful shape to that of the standard Amaryllis. My Amaryllis started blooming a couple days ago. I've been fascinated by how quickly it blooms and the changes it has undergone.
I'm so glad I decided to try an Amaryllis again. Happy Bloom Day!

Gorgeous bloom! I love this amaryllis' form! This year I did have to purchase my bloom from the florist! gail
GORGEOUS!
GORGEOUS pictures! Next year, I definitely want to do amaryllis, because then I can plant them outside, here.
I have just made a new resolution - never to go through another winter without an amaryllis!
Yep, it's the Year of the Amaryllis. Next fall, everybody buy at least two bulbs -- one to keep and one to share.
Happy Bloom Day.
ps I forgot to say ow much i like the B&W photo! gail
They're just fabulous, aren't they? I never get tired of seeing photos of them, and this one is very striking.
Hi!
First time visitor... Lovely amaryllis!!! Aren't these bulbs marvelous? Such great personality and a real treat to have big gorgeous flowers indoors. Happy GBBD!
We had similar thoughts today, MMD:) Beautiful photos--a dramatic display of this lovely amaryllis!
The butterfly type does look graceful, MMD - and how cool that it bloomed on time for you. Love the pollen closeup.

Congratulations on your beautiful amaryllis! Are you deluged with plant catalogs yet?
I like the detail shots featuring the stamens. In the first one they look a little like cell phone antennas, but nature's much cooler.
Happy Bloom Day to you too. Thank goodness for Amaryllis. They help us have something to post. That's all I had too.~~Dee
That's a beauty MMD. Half the joy of amaryllis is watching them open I think. I have just planted two of the cybister varieties. The bulbs did not look brilliant
(they came boxed up) but you never know :)
Ooh, I like that one. Very pretty. It's all about amaryllis this January!
What beautiful pix. Great stamens. The think I love about plants is that, compared with children, you never have to tell them to stop pulling that funny face when you take their picture. Must return to the land of amaryllis to herd myself some of these.
MMD, love the photos, especially the B&W. Rose gave me one for Christmas and I am anxiously awaiting it's blooms
Simply lovely!
What a gorgeous flower you have there. My amaryllis is just opening. I posted on mine the other day also. They are so amazing and beautiful. It would be hard to not be captured by their beauty.
Lovely, MMD! I am not a fan of the amaryllis, but oh those stamens, they knock me for a loop! Your photos are great! :-)

This is a beaut. I like these smaller flowers too. Happy GBBD.
Good Grief it has taken me forever to get over here again and you would laugh how I did it .. I cued anemonella thalictroides Oscar Shoaf .. LOL !
Bang ! there you were with Spring Fling pictures and wow .. I missed those too ? Go figure .. old age ??
Love the amaryllis .. mine has not been feeling good .. must have been that trying to escape out of the box bit at Christmas ? Yours is great girl ! : )

Lovely!!
Beautiful, elegant flowers.
those are beautiful shots of your amaryllis. i especially love the third shot of the close up.
happy january.
Great job, MMD!! It's a beautiful flower. My favorite photo is your black and white. Elegant! :-)
That Amaryllis is gawjus, and I am happy to have been the inspiration behind it! Thanks for the link love!
That is a nice one--though there are very few hippeastrums I don't like. I hope you have luck saving it but if not I think the flowers make them worthwhile as one-shots.
The colors are lovely. The blooms appear to be more dainty and refined than the ones I have.

My oh my, your star is a beauty! I love seeing all the details, and your last photo shows the luxurious beauty in its entirety.
I'm laughing over you laughing at my crammed together pots by the patio door :)
Free clivias are not easy to come by. I was very lucky, wasn't it? I know they must be very expensive.
Overwintering pelargoniums prefer to be on the dry side so that might not be your problem (unless you're letting it die of thirst! ;) Do you have a south window you can put it in?
Love it! Dancing stamens.
It's so pretty! I've tried Amaryllis again for the first time in many years this winter. They sure add some much needed color this time of year. I hadn't heard of the butterfly type before, I'll have to look for them next year.
