GGW Photo Contest - 6th Time's the Silver Charm

A great big thank you to the folks at Gardening Gone Wild, and a special thanks to the guest judge for January, Alan Detrick, for choosing my Frigid Friday photo for a silver medal. I'm thrilled and honored, especially considering the numerous terrific entries. I also want to congratulate all the winners, especially gold medal winner Diana of Diana Lee Photography.
I encourage everyone to enter next month. You don't need a fancy SLR camera, mine is a point and shoot, nor do you need Photoshop (Picasa can do a lot). All you need is to open your eyes to see the garden and all its possibilities.

MMGD your silver metal photo is really quite fetching. Good job seeing. I really came to see your snowdrops. Where are they? Ahead of mine you say. It's like you stole a whole zone from the limited supply of them I got.

Well done MMD - you do such consistently good photography, so very well deserved on both individual and general photography counts :)

Well deserved bragging rights, MMD! Looks like a professional photographer got the gold. Can't be easy competing with them. I too have been pleased with Picasa. Free too!

I love your photograph of the icicles dripping off the berries. The light is perfect and there is a rhythm in it. Congratulations to you!

I loved your photograph from the outset. It reminded me of the ice storm we had a few years ago. There were some amazing formations then, but these are so wonderful because of the red berries. Congratulations on your medal. You deserve it.

"Open your eyes to see the garden and all it's possibilities." May I quote you? That is exactly what I want to do. When I remember to do it, I have better days. I must remember to do it. Thanks for sharing and great pics!

Congratulations, MMD! I didn't see all the other entries this time, but I know that they always have so many excellent entries, so this is quite an honor to be chosen. Thanks for the encouragement, too; I've never entered before, thinking my little point and shoot wasn't up to the standards. But you're right--good photography is as much about the creative "eye" as it is good equipment.
